“Decision support in clinical settings can take many forms.” This HIMSS Europe webinar provides theoretic background as well as practical insights from Onkologikoa, a specialized Oncology hospital, as well as MedicalExchange Medting, which offers a family of web products for eHealth, from collaboration platforms to online medical viewers.

Themes to be presented by HIMSS Analytics Europe (HAE) will include:

• An introduction to the European EMR Adoption Model highlighting the key challenges of reaching Stage 6 & 7
• A definition of Clinical Decision Support and the Closed Loop Medication Administration process, including a description of key components

Onkologikoa will provide insight into the role of the hospital pharmacist and Health staff using IT in the medication process. It will be focused on the way that they have implemented technological strategies for medication error prevention to increase safety in the chemotherapy process within Onkologikoa, an oncology hospital, in San Sebastian, Spain. In particular, they will show the paperless process they have in place for chemotherapy patients, an initial CDSS for selecting the appropriate chemotherapy treatment and several aspects they are working on in different R&D projects.
Miguel Cabrer from MedicalExchange Medting will discuss about the potential to strengthen clinical decision making in oncology through social networking and collaboration.

Nueva Versión de MEDTING

Nos complace comunicárles la última actualización de la versión de medting.com.

Gracias al feedback de los usuarios, hemos realizado un serie de mejoras las cuales esperamos que faciliten el uso de la herramienta.

Hemos creado una nueva funcionalidad dentro del caso clínico, en la que pueden ver la actividad que se genera entorno a un caso concreto, esto es posible mediante gráficas, que muestran diversas acciones en una unidad de tiempo determinada. Proporcionando un mejor seguimiento de las actividades realizadas en un caso.

Realizamos mejoras en MedViewer, visor de imagenes de medting, para darle mayor estabilidad y velocidad.

Otra de las novedades es la categorización de las imágenes añadidas a la multimedia, de forma automática, empleando la información DICOM.

También esta nueva versión incluye una aplicación que nos permite, a nivel de gestión de la plataforma, la posibilidad de generar informes de uso y actividad de la plataforma.

Y como siempre, trabajando en el diseño, nuevas funcionalidades y mejoras de compatibilidad para Internet Explorer.

New Version of MEDTING

We are pleased to announce the latest update version medting.com.

Thanks user feedback, we performed a series of improvements which we hope to facilitate the use of the tool.

These are the changes for this version:

We have created a new feature in the clinical case. In this one, you can see the activity generated around the case. This is possible by charts, which show the evolution of different actions in a unit of time. Providing better monitor activities in a case.

MEDVIEWER, Medting image viewer, we made improvements to give it greater stability and speed.

Another new feature is the auto-group of images added from the media, this process is automatical because the tool uses the information contained in the DICOM tag.

This new version also includes an application that allows the administrator to generate usage and activity reports of the platform by chart or PDF.

And, as always, we are working on improvements in the design, functionality and better compatibility with Internet Explorer.

Tumor Committee at Hospital Gregorio Maranon receives Medical Education Award

The Chair of Medical Education Foundation Lilly – UCM (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) is constituted as a forum of experts in medical education with three fundamental goals: creating knowledge referred to medical education, transmit and apply it. It is committed to include innovative methodologies aimed at defining the clinical skills and competencies to be acquired by the medical student.

Among its business lines include the call for prizes for the best project or work in teaching undergraduate and graduate and / or Training Specialists, organizing discussion forums, book publishing, etc..

For the approach, monitoring and achievement of its aims the Foundation Chair in Medical Education Lilly – UCM, has a Board of Directors and a Joint Monitoring Committee, comprising experts both members of the UCM and the Lilly Foundation.

In order to recognize the efforts to that end, the Chair awards annual prizes for the Best Project Medical Education or Work Degree in Teaching and Best Project or Work in the Teaching of Postgraduate and / or specialist training.

Awards Jury decided to propose as winners of the 2011 edition the following candidates:

Best Project Award or Work in Teaching Degree, the project entitled “CANCER CASE REPORT – VIRTUAL Tumor Committee – Gregorio Maranon,” presented by Prof. Felipe A. Manuel Calvo (Teaching Unit of the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón, Madrid). The network is based on the Medting platform.

La Cátedra de Educación Médica Fundación Lilly – UCM se constituye como un foro de expertos en educación médica con tres fines fundamentales: crear conocimiento referido a la educación médica, transmitirlo y aplicarlo. Se apuesta por incluir metodologías innovadoras encaminadas a la definición de las habilidades y competencias clínicas que debe adquirir el estudiante de medicina.

Entre sus líneas de actividad se incluye la convocatoria de Premios al mejor proyecto o trabajo en la enseñanza de Grado y de Postgrado y/o Formación de Especialistas; la organización de foros de debate; la edición de libros; etc.

Para el planteamiento, seguimiento y consecución de sus fines la Cátedra de Educación Médica Fundación Lilly – UCM, cuenta con un Consejo de Dirección y una Comisión Mixta de Seguimiento, integrados ambos por expertos miembros de la UCM y de la Fundación Lilly.

Al objeto de reconocer los esfuerzos encaminados a tales fines, la Cátedra convoca anualmente los Premios de Educación Médica al Mejor Proyecto o Trabajo en la Enseñanza de Grado y al Mejor Proyecto o Trabajo en la Enseñanza de Postgrado y/o Formación de Especialistas.
El Jurado de los Premios resolvió proponer como ganadores de la edición 2011 a los siguientes candidatos:

Premio al Mejor Proyecto o Trabajo en la Enseñanza de Postgrado y/o Formación de Especialistas, al proyecto titulado “PROYECTO MULTIMODALIDAD PARA LA FORMACIÓN EN POSGRADO EN IMAGEN CARDIACA DIAGNÓSTICA”, presentado por el Prof. Miguel Ángel García Fernández (Sociedad Española de Cardiología. Asociación Española de Imagen Cardiaca)
